The MGM MIRAGE says its Monte Carlo Hotel will reopen for guests, gaming and shows on Friday, February 15.
In their press release Monte Carlo President Anton Nikodemus said, “After what can only be described as an incredible effort by the best team of employees and contractors in the business, the Monte Carlo family will be in place February 15 to welcome guests for Presidents’ Day weekend.”
The Monte Carlo was closed after being damaged by fire on on January 25. The fire was caused by a contractor’s cutting torch on a windy day. The contractor is being investigated by authorities for not having a permit.
Some 500 rooms in on the top floor will remain closed while under going repairs and a major redesign. Most services will reopen on the 15th including the Lance Burton Magic show in the Lance Burton Theater.
Work will continue to repairs to the hotel’s facade once the Monte Carlo reopens on Friday.

The sports books in Las Vegas are waking up with a bit of a hangover today. The Los Angles Times is reporting that the Casinos may have lost on 90 percent of the money line bets.

Clark County fire officials have determined the cause of last week’s fire that damage the outside of hotel casino’s facade on the top floors and closed the hotel.
As early suspected, a contractor working on the building accidentally started the fire with a cutting touch. Molten medal apparently touched off the two hour blaze.
The contractors were also working without permits and may face fines and possible jail time. Sucks to be them.
There is still no word on when guests will be allowed back in and the casino will start rolling the dice and dealing the cards

Clark County building officials say the Monte Carlo must remain closed until the burned facade on the upper floors is either secured or removed.
High winds today prevented work from proceeding on the outside of the building. Now guests who have up coming reservations may be asking…. What happens now? Where do I stay? Will I have a room in Las Vegas?

Work on repairing the damage from last weeks fire has been delayed. Officials at the Las Vegas Monte Carlo still don’t have a date for reopening the hotel.
