Imperial Palace

August 15th, 2007 . by Hotel Harry

Imperial Palace Carnival CourtMy last stay at the Imperial Palace was for 4 days in October 2006. This is one of the older hotels on the strip across from Caesars Palace. I have stayed at many of the hotels on the strip and it was time to give the IP a go.

I stayed there about a year ago and arrived around 9pm. This is always the worst time to a show up at any of the Hotels on the strip as the choice of room is more limited. Not really knowing the hotel that well, I made my standard request for a room with a strip view. MISTAKE!

The desk clerk when asked, “are your sure you want a strip view because the band plays until 2am?” I’m thinking, it’s Vegas and its no big deal I’m not going to use the room ’til late anyway. I can be bull headed about the the strip or I end up with a view of the parking lot and trash bins when I don’t get a room strip side.

I head up to my room on the slowest elevators on the planet… take a maze of hallways and get unpacked somewhere around 10. I can sort of hear the music, but I’m busy and not paying that close attention. I flip on the TV and sit down and fall asleep. Then, around 11:30 the music wakes me and it is LOUD. The band was great. But, I was really tired and had decided I did want to try to sleep. No way was sleep going to happen. I was up until 2am. I was too tired to leave the room and unable to sleep until the band stopped at 2am. Now I can’t say I was not warned.

The next day I requested to be moved and the hotel was accommodating. Overall the room I stayed in was clean enough, but the plumbing and the elevators ran slow. It was OK as it was cheap, but overall I would not highly recommend the IP for a stay.
