Las Vegas Monte Carlo Clean Up Has Begun
January 28th, 2008 . by Robb CheuvrontA General contractor has been hired and crews are beginning the process of cleaning up after the fire at the Monte Carlo on the Las Vegas Strip last Friday. It is considered safe to enter the hotel now at the 26th floor and below, but the hotel has not been re-opened as of today.
The outside facade was what burned in the fire and it is considered to be too unstable to let people back into the hotel. According to safety officials, the Monte Carlo can’t allow anyone back in until the facade material is secured or removed.
There were earlier reports that indicated that no fire had made its way inside the hotel, but officials have revised that to say that a very small amount of fire made its way inside the 29th and 32nd floor and damage was very minor.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined, but welders were on the roof at the time the fire started.
